FIFA visited Botswana

On February 24th to 25th, FIFA visited Gaborone to learn more about the impact its FIFA Forward development programme generated in Botswana. FIFA Forward is built to provide 360-degree, tailor-made support for football development. The aim is to improve the way football is supported across the globe so that football can reach its potential everywhere.

The visit offered holistic insights into how FIFA Forward contributed to BFA reaching their development goals in the period from 2016 to 2020.  Over the past few years, BFA has made great efforts in implementing development projects through the Forward programme. From an investment in playing infrastructure to training programmes and new youth competitions. BFA delivered many activities that are the foundation of sustainable football development.

FIFA’s expanded development investment has also seen the introduction of advanced reporting measures, including legacy and impact monitoring.

FIFA’s Project and Legacy Manager, FIFA’s Regional Development Officer together with the BFA Administration met at the BFA headquarters. The meetings provided a forum for sharing of information and exchange of experiences on the implementation of projects and the benefits derived therefrom. FIFA will analyse the findings of their mission with the objective to learn from the measures taken by BFA and continue to identify and promote activities of best practice.
