Confederation of African Football (CAF) stadium inspector Joshua Knipp from South Africa arrived in Botswana recently on a stadium inspection mission.
 
Knipp was welcomed by Tuelo Serufho also the Chief Executive Officer of Botswana National Sport Commission (BNSC), Olebile Sikwane, Head of Competitions and Operations for the Botswana Football Association, among other key stakeholders
 
With Botswana and Namibia having signed a Memorandum of Understanding to bid to host the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), a report on stadium safety and security is imperative.
 
The CAF delegates visited Gaborone National Stadium and Lobatse Sports Complex, and the tour concluded with a visit to Obed Itani Chilume Stadium in Francistown.
 
Feedback is expected to be presented to the National Sports Commission of Botswana in due course

BFA to Assemble Assessment Camp

The head coach of the senior national team β€œThe Zebras”, Didier Gomez Da Rosa, is set to assemble an assessment camp for the U22 national team from April 29 to May 1, 2024, which will take place at Lekidi Football Centre.
 
The purpose of the team is to identify potential players who will build a graduate Senior Men’s National Team besides the Olympic Under-23 Team.
