On behalf of the Botswana Football Association( NEC), BFA management and the football community, I wish to convey our heartily congratulations to The Mares for the historic achievement ever noticed in history of our football. Against odds, the Mares have unequivocally demonstrated that women too, are capable of matching and even surpassing their males counterparts.

Reaching the Quarterfinals of WAFCON 2022 in Morocco, was beyond our expectations. This historic feat can only serve as a total inspiration for our football and as a yard stick with which we must now measure and judge all our national teams. This milestone remains a record that can only be broken if we work harder and more together, for the sole purpose of football development in Botswana.

These fascinating developments have seriously been noted locally and internationally by industry players as we continue to grow Brand Botswana in unknown territories. We are truly humbled by international inquiries and interest in both our football talent and country.
My team and I are even more encouraged, inspired and embued by a sense of urgency, to deepen BFA’s developmental agenda to further increase capacity and diversity in our women empowerment project through football. Top of this agenda, is the future welfare of these players and officials. Comprehensive communication will in due coarse, follow in this regard.
In conclusion, we are grateful to the players, the technical team and management of the team for this
unprecedented milestone.

To our loyal support base of women and all Batswana, MYGSC, BNSC and the Business Community who have always spurred the team on, the media who have been more than resourceful in advancing the necessary and requisite publicity for the team; Re a leboga.

We are forever grateful to you all.
