Botswana U-20 Team Receives Anti-Doping Workshop Ahead Of COSAFA Qualifiers

The Botswana U-20 men’s national football team, currently in training camp at the Lekidi Football Centre, welcomed a crucial visit from anti-doping officials this afternoon. The session, organized by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), aimed to educate the young athletes about anti-doping regulations and ensure fair play in sports.

As the team gears up for the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations – COSAFA Qualifiers 2024, the workshop served as an essential part of their preparation. Botswana will face Eswatini, Mozambique, and Zimbabwe in Group A of the tournament. The anti-doping session emphasized the importance of maintaining integrity and adhering to regulations, reinforcing the team’s commitment to clean competition.

This initiative underscores the importance of education in safeguarding the principles of fair play as the team prepares for the upcoming challenges.

VAR System Will Make Its Debut During The COSAFA Men’s Championship Semis

The referees who will take part in the HOLLYWOODBETS COSAFA Cup 2024 from June 26to July 7 have been put through their paces in recent days. This includes the match officials who will administer the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) system.

The VAR system will be used from the semi-final in Gqeberha, but will also serve as a training tool for the entire competition as the officials work with the system behind the scenes at each match to better prepare for the real thing.

In addition, Botswana referee Keabetswe Dintwa will take centre stage at this year’s COSAFA Cup, while Lucky Kegakologetswe will act as assistant referee.
