U15 Elite Youth League evaluation meeting & coaching clinics

The above subject matter refers:-

Having concluded the East and South Zones U15 Elite Youth leagues that ran from 4th November 2017 to 15th April 2018 the BFA Technical Department saw it necessary to evaluate the program as well as running coaching clinics for coaches who were involved in the project.

  • From 23rd to 24th July 2018:
  • 10 coaches from our 9 teams from the South Block (South zone = 10 teams) attended. An additional coach (11th) also attended as he was engaged in the BISA Finals that just ended before the evaluation meeting
    • This was necessary to improve the implementation of youth football development program that will continue from August of this year.
  • Further, as a means to improve the program implementation, all the 20 teams will be provided with equipment in a form of 10 footballs and 1 first aid box  for each team
  • Funding is from FIFA Forward Project
  • From 25th to 26th July 2018
    • Similarly, we will be conducting a similar exercise for coaches working in the East Block and the Francistown region during the above

The coaching clinic will be facilitated by BFA technical Director Serame Letsoaka .

The Mares Display Heart In Tri Nations Challenge

Botswana’s senior women’s national football team recently concluded their campaign in the prestigious Three Nations Challenge, hosted by South Africa from 28 May to 3 June at the Lucas Moripe Stadium. The series saw spirited competition between Botswana, South Africa, and Zambia, as teams continued their preparations for the upcoming Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualifiers.

 

Despite narrowly missing out on the top prize, Botswana showed immense character and growth throughout the tournament. The Mares kicked off their campaign with a thrilling encounter against the African champions South Africa, narrowly going down 3-2 in a tightly contested match. The team bounced back with a determined performance against Zambia, securing a 1-1 draw and demonstrating resilience and tactical discipline.

 

 

Final Tournament Results:

South Africa 3–2 Botswana

Botswana 1–1 Zambia

South Africa 2–0 Zambia

 

South Africa’s Banyana Banyana were ultimately crowned champions of the series, winning both of their matches to take the top spot. The tournament offered valuable game time and experience for all participating nations, and Botswana’s technical team, led by Head Coach Alex Malete, will take key insights from these fixtures as they refine the squad for the crucial WAFCON fianals.
