CAF: Vacancy Alert: Senior Manager – Travel and Accommodation.

You believe you have the educational background and professional experience to elevate the organization to the highest international standards? CAF is looking to recruit a Senior Manager – Travel and Accommodation.

Responsibilities:

  • Create a standard documentation defining responsibilities, timelines, and operational workflows.
  • Manage travel business workflow for all CAF Tournaments & Events where travel arrangements are requested in line with CAF Travel Policy.
  • Liaise with Transportation and Guest Management departments.
  • Create and develop a checklist for the specifications of the rooms and service level for the different groups (CAF Officials, Teams, Referees, VVIP/VIP guests, etc.) together with CAF relevant departments.
  • Assess and manage cost effective accommodation needs for all CAF Tournaments and Events.
  • Maintain trustworthy relationships with travel agencies and vendors.
  • Negotiate hotel rates and contracts with direct vendors.
  • Ensure compliance with different relevant travel policies and procedures.
  • Ensure the delivery of visas for CAF Officials, VVIP/VIP Guests, delegates, etc. whenever needed.
  • Conduct inspection visits and generate reports.
  • Manage budget planning and expenses reconciliation.
  • Prepare travel budget and post-events reports.

Requirements (profile):

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, or similar.
  • Master’s Degree or any additional certification related to traveling is an advantage.
  • Minimum of ten years’ experience in the travel industry.
  • Experience in the sports industry is an advantage.
  • Experience in organizing accommodation arrangements for large numbers of delegates is an advantage.
  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office and other modern IT tools.
  • Fluent in English and/or French languages both written and spoken is a must; command of any of the other CAF official languages (English, French, Arabic) is an asset.
  • Strong project management skills with a clear focus on delivery
  • Excellent understanding of dealing with high-profile guests with complex itineraries
  • Ability to build strong relationships in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Leader, team builder, strategic and conceptual thinker, service minded and able to understand the needs of the business.
  • Resistance of stress.
  • Willingness to travel anywhere, anytime whenever the work needs.

The Mares Display Heart In Tri Nations Challenge

Botswana’s senior women’s national football team recently concluded their campaign in the prestigious Three Nations Challenge, hosted by South Africa from 28 May to 3 June at the Lucas Moripe Stadium. The series saw spirited competition between Botswana, South Africa, and Zambia, as teams continued their preparations for the upcoming Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualifiers.

 

Despite narrowly missing out on the top prize, Botswana showed immense character and growth throughout the tournament. The Mares kicked off their campaign with a thrilling encounter against the African champions South Africa, narrowly going down 3-2 in a tightly contested match. The team bounced back with a determined performance against Zambia, securing a 1-1 draw and demonstrating resilience and tactical discipline.

 

 

Final Tournament Results:

South Africa 3–2 Botswana

Botswana 1–1 Zambia

South Africa 2–0 Zambia

 

South Africa’s Banyana Banyana were ultimately crowned champions of the series, winning both of their matches to take the top spot. The tournament offered valuable game time and experience for all participating nations, and Botswana’s technical team, led by Head Coach Alex Malete, will take key insights from these fixtures as they refine the squad for the crucial WAFCON fianals.
