𝗕𝗙𝗔 𝗛𝗢𝗟𝗗𝗦 𝗖𝗔𝗙 “𝗔 𝗟𝗜𝗖𝗘𝗡𝗖𝗘” 𝗖𝗢𝗔𝗖𝗛𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗖𝗢𝗨𝗥𝗦𝗘 𝗙𝗢𝗥 𝗘𝗟𝗜𝗧𝗘 𝗖𝗢𝗔𝗖𝗛𝗘𝗦

As a part of its continued efforts to develop and equip local coaches with necessary skills, the association (BFA) is conducting a 10 days CAF A coaching licence course this week.

The main objective of the course is to provide the course participants with a new techno-tactical knowledge and tactics of understanding the game. The course is divided into five phases of and will end in February 20223.

In his opening remarks, BFA CEO Mfolo Mfolo reiterated the BFA’s commitment to technical development of coaches as a means of advancing the local game. He urged this first cohort to be trained locally to take forth the knowledge that they will gain from this training course and impart it to their colleagues at the grassroots level.

“I hope that you will take lessons from this training course and share with your colleagues at the grassroots. The only way for us to get our game to grow is when we remember to empower the grassroots and youth coaches who are very important stakeholders,” he said.

He concluded by announcing that among the participants, four of them will be selected to become certified coach educators for the CAF “A LICENSE” instructors under the mentorship of an experienced senior instructor.

“This means that the next batch of local coaches will be trained by some of you here today. This is a momentous moment in the development and growth of the game,” concluded Mfolo.

Speaking on behalf of the course participants, Course Captain Kaelo Kaelo stated that this course was held at a time when a lot was happening. He added that this course will enable them to improve our local game.

“I am very sure that with this course we will improve our local game because the things we learned here are of a high standard, very new and fresh, and we will be able to pass on the knowledge to our clubs,” said Kaelo.

BOTSWANA U-20 WOMEN EXIT WORLD CUP QUALIFIERS WITH PRIDE AFTER HOME VICTORY

The Botswana U-20 Women’s National Team bowed out of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Qualifiers 2026 on a positive note after securing a 1–0 victory over Cameroon U-20 Women’s National Team this past weekend, despite a 5–1 aggregate defeat.

Having suffered a heavy 5–0 loss in the first leg played on 7 February 2026 at Olembe Stadium in Cameroon, the Young Mares showed resilience and determination in the return leg at Obed Itani Chilume Stadium.

Forward Mbapeua Hangara scored the decisive goal in the second half, giving Botswana a deserved win in front of their home supporters and demonstrating the team’s fighting spirit until the final whistle.

Head coach Tapaphiwa Tracey Gaebolae expressed pride in her players performance and attitude, emphasizing the positive response after the first-leg setback.

“We are very proud of the girls. Even though we didn’t get the result we wanted in Cameroon, we came here with a positive mindset. The message to the team was that we needed to score more goals, stay organized, and believe in ourselves and I think the players responded very well.” Coach Gaebolae alluded at the post match Technical press conference.

Despite exiting the competition, the Young Mares leave the qualifiers with valuable international experience and renewed confidence, highlighting the growth and potential of women’s football in Botswana.
