ESWATINI – Botswana Junior national football team (Under-23) was defeated 2-0 by Eswatini in the first leg of the AFCON qualifiers which also served as a fight for a spot in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games qualifiers at Somhlolo Stadium, Eswatini, on Friday afternoon.

Speaking in an interview, Coach Kaelo Kaelo commented on the match, saying it was a hard-fought game. He further said despite the loss, it was a good game with two sets of young boys and he is hoping for a better return leg at Francistown.

“Unfortunately, we lost the game at a critical moment, we conceded a goal just before halftime which is bad for us and we found ourselves chasing the game after halftime. We conceded another goal in the second half which made us to chase the game even more as we tried to get back on track and at least get 1 goal which didn’t work out,” said Kaelo

The boys will now head to Francistown for the return leg on Tuesday, Sept. 27 at Obed Itani Chilume Stadium.

Tsetseng United have officially earned promotion to the First Division South League, following a spectacular run in the Western Block Promotional Play-Offs, where they claimed victory in all three of their matches to finish with a perfect 9 points.
