𝗙π—₯π—”π—‘π—–π—œπ—¦π—§π—’π—ͺ𝗑: Botswana Football Association (BFA) in partnership with Diamond Trading Company Botswana (DTC Botswana) on the 13th of August 2022 held π—šπ—œπ—₯π—Ÿπ—¦ π—¦π—£π—˜π—–π—œπ—™π—œπ—– π—™π—˜π—¦π—§π—œπ—©π—”π—Ÿ-π—šπ—₯𝗔𝗦𝗦π—₯𝗒𝗒𝗧𝗦 at Obed Itani Chilume Stadium, Francistown for the girl’s between the ages of 6 and 12 years.
 
The one-day event was focused on increasing participation and teaching basic techniques to the girl child to promote the women’s game, giving the girls an opportunity to play, have fun and learn life skills through football.
 
In an interview with Motlalepula Kologwe also the chairperson of the women’s football at Francistown Regional Football Association (FRAFA) brought to light that we must acknowledge the importance of this kind of event as it is shaping the future of female football stars from tender ages.
 
She further added that she is pleased with the enthusiasm and skills of the youngsters they represented during this event.
 
β€œWe are motivated to ensure that we continue to provide quality deliverance. Our focus is to develop and it can only be done with the support from all stakeholders such as the government, parents, coaches, volunteers and administrators.” Said Joseph Peter, one of the coaches at the event

The Mares Drawn In Group B for WAFCON 2024

Botswana’s senior women’s football team, The Mares, will face stiff competition in Group B of the 15th edition of the CAF TotalEnergies Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON). The official draw, held on Friday, November 22, 2024, at the Mohammed VI Technical Centre in SalΓ©, Morocco, set the stage for the tournament, which is scheduled to run from July 5 to 26, 2025. 

The Mares find themselves in a challenging group alongside African football giants Nigeria, who boast an impressive 11 WAFCON titles and are gunning for their 12th. Completing the group are Tunisia and Algeria, both formidable teams in their own right, promising intense competition. 

The draw was part of a ceremony celebrating the growth and vibrancy of African women’s football, with officials emphasizing the tournament’s significance in showcasing the continent’s talent and passion for the sport.
