Lucara Botswana is pleased to announce a P200 000.00 (Two Hundred Thousand Pula) incentive to the Botswana Womenโ€™s National Team, The Mares who are currently competing at the 2022 Africa Womenโ€™s Cup of Nations in Morocco.

The Mares made the country proud by qualifying for AWCON 2022 and are currently making great strides in Morocco; it is in recognition of this sterling effort that we at Lucara Botswana continue to support The Mares and are pledging Two Hundred Thousand Pula as an incentive to motivate them to keep reaching for greater heights and make history.
Lucara Botswana sponsored The Mares with P 300 000.00 (Three hundred thousand Pula) during their qualification games, a gesture we believe spurred them to eventually qualify for their maiden AWCON.
Lucara Botswana subscribes to 10 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGโ€™s) and these goals essentially allow us to satisfy our mandate which is to meaningfully impact and contribute towards building a greater, self-sustaining Botswana.

To the Mares, Keep Flying the Blue Black and White Flag high, the nation is behind you.

The series saw spirited competition between Botswana, South Africa, and Zambia, as teams continued their preparations for the upcoming Womenโ€™s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualifiers.

Despite narrowly missing out on the top prize, Botswana showed immense character and growth throughout the tournament. The Mares kicked off their campaign with a thrilling encounter against the African champions South Africa, narrowly going down 3-2 in a tightly contested match. The team bounced back with a determined performance against Zambia, securing a 1-1 draw and demonstrating resilience and tactical discipline.

Final Tournament Results:

South Africaโ€™s Banyana Banyana were ultimately crowned champions of the series, winning both of their matches to take the top spot.
