Botswana Football Association President Maclean Letshwiti say the opportunity to host the 2027 African Cup of Nations will open an avenue of opportunities for the economy and the people of Botswana and Namibia.
Speaking at the Signing of the Memorandum of Agreement between the Governments of Botswana and Namibia the BFA boss said โ€œshould we become successful in this bid, the legacy that will be inherited by the two nations will be unprecedented. Our two countries will be gifted an automatic opportunity to compete at the highest level in football and against the very best in Africa. The legacy of infrastructure development, information technology, sports science and medicine, tourism, economic and social cohesion, job creation, science and technology will be palpable, and indelible.โ€™โ€™
The BFA president who also serves on the CAF Executive Committee and is also Head of CAF Competitions Committee went on to highlight that Although he will have first-hand information on expectations of CAF as far as AFCON and other competitions run by CAF are concerned, his influence on the outcome of the AFCON 2027 Bid will be very limited.
Letshwiti called on the two countries need to work extremely hard to win the bid and that the BONA2027 bid must convincing and very robust but also very thorough in the process.

Forward Mbapeua Hangara scored the decisive goal in the second half, giving Botswana a deserved win in front of their home supporters and demonstrating the teamโ€™s fighting spirit until the final whistle.

Head coach Tapaphiwa Tracey Gaebolae expressed pride in her players performance and attitude, emphasizing the positive response after the first-leg setback.

โ€œWe are very proud of the girls. Even though we didnโ€™t get the result we wanted in Cameroon, we came here with a positive mindset. The message to the team was that we needed to score more goals, stay organized, and believe in ourselves and I think the players responded very well.โ€ Coach Gaebolae alluded at the post match Technical press conference.
