FIFA fund BFA's P4 million project

Due to weather conditions and the severe drought that hit the country, Lekidi football field became a challenge to maintain. The drought led to water restrictions and which affected the grass and rendered the ground unusable. TODAY, This is all about to change courtesy of FIFA Forward Development Program under the new leadership of FIFA, President Gianni Infantino.

From TODAY, BFA will start the transformation of the grass Lekidi football. The project is to revive our old playing natural turf field, which was also a FIFA grant, into an artificial ground. This Project is also a grant from FIFA, and the 4th FIFA funded project for BFA worth about Pula 4 million.

The Technical Team will now be fully engaged as  BFA will come alive with football activities such as grassroots and youth development programs for both boys and girls.  BFA welcomes the FIFA's help in turning Lekidi Technical Centre into a centre of excellence that it is intended to be.

"Today, September 26th 2017, will mark the start of work on the pitch and we expect our contracted company Artificial Grass Africa to deliver the project in the next latest in January 2018 but should be completed in December 2017, " said Tumo Mpatane, spokesperson of BFA.

He said this project will empower the locals and create jobs for Batswana, stating that 75% of the employees will come from Botswana.

BFA hopes spread such projects in the future to across the country and the  four blocks of the Association.
