BFA holds a successful youth league

After successfully starting the national youth league in November 2016 the BFA held the inter regional finals over the Easter holidays . The 17 regional structures of the BFA had selected regional squads in the under 13,15 and 17 to represent them, the selected players came from the football association youth league structure with over 1800 kids taking part at the inter regionals.

Each age category had two team from player playing in the tournament. The inter regional finals where are used to select the shadow block teams which will in the coming weekend compete at the inter block finals where a shadow national team will be selected for the age categories 13, 15 and17

BFA CEO Okeditse Malesu said even though the where challenges the inter regional finals were a success as the program went on with few incidents, and that has given him and his staff experience in knowing the challenge of organising such games. Malesu highlighted that this project has no room for failure and that the staff at BFA will do all in their power to make a successful youth system He said the youth structure has to be taken seriously as it is an excellent feeding system to the senior teams.

The newly appointed CEO said they are going to start preparing for the next step which will be the block finals to be staged in Gaborone from 28 April to 1 May

BFA to Assemble Assessment Camp

The head coach of the senior national team “The Zebras”, Didier Gomez Da Rosa, is set to assemble an assessment camp for the U22 national team from April 29 to May 1, 2024, which will take place at Lekidi Football Centre.
 
The purpose of the team is to identify potential players who will build a graduate Senior Men’s National Team besides the Olympic Under-23 Team.
