Botswana Football Association representing Botswana, President MacLean Letshwiti has revealed Botswana’s vote went to the United block (the USA, Canada and Mexico).
Letshwiti highlighted that this wasn’t an easy decision but say it was made comfortable by the consultation that he made with football structures as well as with government stakeholders. The President highlighted that this is not a vote that can destroy any relationship as it was made towards the benefits of world football as a whole. 11 other African countries voted for the United block: Benin, Cape Verde, Guinea, Lesotho, Liberia, Namibia, Mozambique, Sierra Leone, South Africa and Zimbabwe.
Botswana Football Association wishes to congratulate the Block and wish them well in preparing for the 2026 world cup.
