This year’s much-anticipated 2022 COSAFA Cup has dished up an exciting draw for phase 1. Group A features Angola, Botswana, Comoros and Seychelles. Group B features Lesotho, Malawi, Mauritius and Eswatini.

In an interview, with Botswana Senior men national team ‘’The Zebras’’ Head Coach Teenage Mpote brought to light that this arose at a good time as this will be a competitive draw for the team as will act as preparations for the upcoming Total Energies AFCON 2023 qualifiers games.

Mpote further added that even though we have been drawn in a pool with tough teams to play with, this is not at all putting us under any pressure as we have once went to the COSAFA games finals and understand what we will need to do to succeed in the tournament .

The caretaker coach is expected to assemble a team for the tournament towards the end of June in preparation for the regional tournament .
