The Mares Off To Orapa

The Botswana Senior Women’s National Team “The Mares‘’, reported for camp today (16 May 2022) before embarking on a trip to Orapa for a training camp as part of their preparations for the Women Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) scheduled for the 2nd July 2022 to 23rd July 2022 in Morocco.

The training camp in Orapa, comes after Debswana Orapa Mine pledged to sponsor the team’s WAFCON preparations campaign.

The Mares are paired Group C with Nigeria, South Africa and Burundi. Botswana will play their first match against Burundi at Prince Heritier Moulay El Hassan Stadium on the 7th July 2022 at (2100hrs CAT).

The head coach of the senior national team “The Zebras”, Didier Gomez Da Rosa, is set to assemble an assessment camp for the U22 national team from April 29 to May 1, 2024, which will take place at Lekidi Football Centre.

The purpose of the team is to identify potential players who will build a graduate Senior Men’s National Team besides the Olympic Under-23 Team.
