Botswana not hosting the 2018 COSAFA challenge

Botswana Football Association Cheif Executive Officer Mfolo E. Mfolo this morning announced that the Association will not be hosting the 2018 COSAFA Senior Men’s challenge.

According to COSAFA the hosting member Association must provide 25% of the required full budget and to be allowed to host. The Association could not manage to secure the needed budget ahead of time as government already has made commitment to other national priorities. The corporate entities that could assist or have an interest in the tournament are by large already or in competition with the regional body or tied to COSAFA already.

The best decision was to make a decision that made finicial sense and protected the Football Association in the long-term.

BFA to Assemble Assessment Camp

The head coach of the senior national team “The Zebras”, Didier Gomez Da Rosa, is set to assemble an assessment camp for the U22 national team from April 29 to May 1, 2024, which will take place at Lekidi Football Centre.
 
The purpose of the team is to identify potential players who will build a graduate Senior Men’s National Team besides the Olympic Under-23 Team.
