“States” Steps Down

Former senior national team player and Footballers Union of Botswana (FUB) founding president Mmoni States Segopolo will not defend his position at the upcoming elective congress scheduled for tomorrow (Saturday 17, June 2017) in Gaborone.

He has indicated that he is paving way for the young blood to take over after being at the helm of the players union for the past seven years.

“I will not be leaving the union. I have gained enough experience to serve in another capacity and at this moment, I would like to save much talk for the congress when I will be addressing my constituents,” he said.

Meanwhile the current vice president Onalethata Tshekiso is expected to ascend to the presidency after being the only nominated candidate for the position. He will be deputised by Lesego Molemogi who is also unopposed for the position of vice presidency. Other members of the board will be nominated by the EXCO after the congress as per the constitution.
