Football mourns the loss of Sebopi

The BFA is shocked and saddened to hear of the tragic loss of a promising and talented 27-year-old Justice Sebopi of First Division South club, Matebejane.

Sebopi is reported to have collapsed while training in his home town of Selibe-Phikwe. He was immediately rushed to a nearby Clinic where he was unfortunately certified dead by medical practitioners on duty.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family. We will communicate funeral arrangements after discussions with the family and the club concerned. The President of the BFA Mr MacLean Letshwiti has therefore ordered a Moment of Silence at all official football matches across the country this weekend for our fallen hero and patriot.

Magang to attend Women in Football Leadership Programme

Since the approval of the FIFA reforms by the Extraordinary FIFA Congress in February 2016, FIFA has placed great emphasis on bringing more women into football’s decision-making bodies, as evidenced by the increased presence of women on the FIFA Council, FIFA
Standing Committees, FIFA Management Board, as well as in the wider FIFA administration.

The success of the FIFA Women’s World Cup France 2019 has further raised the awareness of women’s football and its unique qualities, both on and off the pitch, including the positive impact the game has on girls and women around the world.

Following these successes of women’s national teams, the Botswana Football Association is delighted to inform the media and public that FIFA has invited National Executive Committee members Mrs Tsoseletso Magang to the second edition of the Women in Football Leadership Programme. This workshop reinforces Botswana’s as well as FIFA’s commitment to increase women’s participation in senior decision-making positions within football.

Mrs Magang’s participation in the programme will prove to be of great importance to advance women’s football in Botswana. She will be provided with the opportunity to grow as a leader in football in a multicultural and international environment.

Good progress has been made in women’s in recent times but the Football Association believes there is still a long way to go and more efforts are required. Mrs Tsoseletso Magang will be heading to Switzerland to attend the 2019 Women in Leadership program from 18th-22ndNovember 2019
